White Oak and Black Tile Bathroom Design

by Elizabeth Round | Village Home Stores

In our last project feature post we shared a kitchen design with white oak cabinetry in a new Kewanee, Illinois home. This white oak cabinet order was so nice we must share it twice! We knew you would love the kitchen and just had to give you a peek at the primary bathroom from the same home. Let’s have a look around.

    White Oak Bathroom Cabinetry

New home layouts have truly changed over the years and one of our favorite zones of a new build plan is the primary suite area. You work hard and you deserve an area of the home to offer you privacy, sanctuary, and of course style! We love that so many new homes include a primary suite that feels like its own private wing of the home.  That is what it should be after all. This Kewanee, Illinois property includes a bedroom, bathroom, laundry, and closet area that all flow and function together so well.

The bathroom includes a double sink vanity area, a freestanding bathtub, private area for the stool, and a custom tiled shower. The vanity area is designed using our Wynnbrooke Cabinetry line in the Cascade door and “Sand” stain on a White Oak wood.

A double sink vanity top has been installed with two bowls integrated into it. A center storage cabinet has been installed to divide the areas and set on end splashes complete the look. This is the “Venetian” bowl style, and the color of the top is named “Glacier”.

Cultured marble vanity tops have come a LONG way from the shell-shaped marbled pink patterns of the 80’s and 90’s. The Onyx Collection is a company we love. Manufactured in Kansas, they can offer Village customers counters, shower walls, shower pans, tub decks, and more! In a wide variety of colors, patterns, and even textures. Lavatory tops are available in standard sizes and any custom situation you may need. Our designers at Village have sold this product for many years and can help you get the right product and fit for your project.

Above each vanity sink in the bathroom are LED- lit “Icon” mirrors from our Krugg line with a 2-light vanity light above each. Shown above with the lights off, there are many options for lighting in this bathroom.

The frosted line framing the mirror can be illuminated with LED for a front-washing light source perfect for makeup application and shaving. The Capital “Colton” vanity lights provide task or ambient lighting with water glass shades and a Matte Black finish on the fixture.

The flooring surfaces in the main area of the bathroom are from our best-selling COREtec vinyl plank line. The same “Blended Caraway” 7” x 48” plank is installed as flooring for both levels of this home. The planks have many tones within the wood colors and pair perfectly with the white oak “Sand” cabinets. Matte black finishes were used throughout this bathroom as a bold, graphic accent.

    Black Hex Tile Shower Floor

Matte black is available and trending for all categories of products right now including bath hardware, accessories, plumbing fixtures, surfaces, and of course lighting. This customer also selected black surfaces and materials to be used in the custom tiled shower for this primary bath.

What a statement! Look at this white and black tiled custom shower. We will give you a moment to collect yourself. You good? Ok now let’s have a look at it. A combination of black and white tile and grout, this walk-in shower is a dream. The shower walls are a 4” x 16” matte white “Soho” tile installed with a black grout. There is a corner footrest ledge and an inset wall niche for toiletries.

The shower trim, pan, curb, etc are all from our Schluter line. Any exposed trim is installed in a black finish including the shower drain. The black-on-black tile and grout application looks great. This Schluter line offers trim pieces that we use to cap the cut end of a run of kitchen backsplash, or to frame in a specific area like a wall shelf or niche. You can see the clean look this trim gives to a tiled project. For this shower niche the installer added the black hex tile from the floor to the back wall of the shelf areas.
