Countertop Replacement and Partial Kitchen Remodels in the Quad Cities

by Elizabeth Round | Village Home Stores

It happened again… didn’t it? Another year flew by, and you didn’t even begin the process of pricing the projects you wanted to finish in your home. Let’s agree that this coming new year you will get the ball rolling. Deal? Partial kitchen remodels can be an excellent investment in your home’s value and your own home experience. Good news! You landed on the blog of the region’s destination for all things kitchen and bath design. However, we realized again recently that having the reputation around the Quad Cities as the complete kitchen remodel experts can distract from the small projects we work on. People who follow us on social media or watch our weekly TV show often assume we only do fully demoed kitchen remodel projects. That is not the truth! Any given week Village Home Stores is at work either installing or delivering products in many kitchens in the area, but not all of them need a complete remodel. Sometimes just a single thing like countertops or new lighting can completely change the look and value of your space.

Nothing Wrong with Your Existing Cabinets?

Do you already have a working kitchen layout and cabinets in place that are still in good shape? Then why tear them out!? Partial remodels are a large part of what we do. We wanted to post a reminder that as we look to ring in the new year, there are many ways you can update your kitchen without tearing into walls or even removing your cabinets. We often feature remodel stories here on the blog that involve weeks of schedules, many subcontractors, and a detailed process to get to the finished result. There are also checklists, contracts, pages and pages of inclusion sheets, estimates, and project management communication apps that you don’t see us mention here on the blog. That’s great… but what if you just want to make a few minor updates? Where do you even start? If you want to swap out your kitchen countertops, who do you call first? Do you need a plumber? Who can haul away the old tops? Relax. We’ve got you covered! No matter what size your project, the first step is always the same, reach out an tell us about what you are looking to do. That’s it. You can use the webchat feature right here on this page. We promise nobody is going to spam you with surveys, robot calls, or come knocking on your door in person if you text us a question. We just want to connect and hear what you are considering for your home. We know you are busy. And that is why the way that we manage remodel projects at Village Home Stores may be the best fit for your project and your busy lifestyle.

A Partial Kitchen Remodel Example in Nordic Neutrals

Hanstone Quartz in Coast color paired with mosaic wall tile and Scandinavian and Nordic cookbooks

This example from a recent partial remodel pairs new quartz countertops with a mosaic tile backsplash. We love the two textures of the tops and mosaic wall tile. The wall tile is a “Rough Hewn” mosaic from our Trends line and the Costruire Titanio series. The look is perfect in this log cabin home. We were getting snowy Nordic vibes from this partial remodel, and then noticed the cookbook collection to help confirm the feeling. Neutrals installed with touchable textures are always a great choice for a kitchen.

Hanstone Quartz counters were installed in the “Coast” design. The tops have a texture that has the look and feel of a weathered stone or cement. This is the “Riverwashed” finish. In place of a high-gloss quartz finish, these textured slabs give a storied look and feel. Swapping out your kitchen countertops for stone tops is our most popular partial remodel request. You can just do that with our team, or also arrange for other categories of products from our store. Every project is different. Natural stone and engineered quartz countertops continue to be the most requested kitchen countertop surfaces in the Quad Cities area. These tops are durable and gorgeous when they are measured, fabricated, and installed by experts.

Orion Illinois kitchen with painted cabinets, replaced countertops, new undercabinet lighting, and mosaic wall tile backsplash

In this rural Orion, Illinois log home we were able to work with the homeowners to come up with a few partial remodel updates for the existing kitchen. After removing the existing countertops, we were able to relocate the refrigerator, update the hardware, install new lighting (and LED undercabinet lighting), and install the mosaic tile backsplash. The major illusion of a brand-new kitchen came when we arranged to have the existing cabinetry painted by an expert subcontractor. Check out that transformation here on Instagram. Your partial remodel dream can become a reality by having one of our expert kitchen designers help guide you and execute your ideas into a real timeline and a plan for the new finished look.
