Santa’s elves have been busy in the Quad Cities. Look at this new home in Bettendorf, Iowa they just finished. It includes a kitchen design with a large island, black stainless appliances, black and gold lighting, and black and white painted cabinetry. The kitchen design and select materials throughout the home are by Village Home Stores for Aspen Homes of the Quad Cities. How stunning is this styled space? Let’s have a look around, shall we?
The kitchen features our Koch cabinetry line in the bestselling Savannah Shaker door style with a combination of Koch’s Maple painted finishes. Savannah is a bestselling door because of its ability to compliment so many styles of spaces. Flat-panel doors are a timeless door style selection for your project. Here the look is elevated to a transitional modern look with a tall, flat crown molding at the top and the use of black and gold accents in the space.
We love every detail. It is amazing how sophisticated a black-painted cabinet can look in a home. The main perimeter is the “White” paint from Koch and the island cabinetry and back panels are the “black” paint from the same line. This same look would also be stunning paired with some of our white alternative paints (like Ivory or Oyster). Press play below to take a look around with a video tour.

Beautiful right? The team at Aspen Homes always does a terrific job of styling their spaces and this one belongs on the cover of a magazine for sure! Like many open-concept kitchen designs, the main focal point is created with the cooking zone and range hood. In bold contrast to the white cabinetry, is the chimney-style range hood with extension that goes all the way to the ceiling.
With so many of the lighting selections made including matte black hardware, black stainless is a fantastic compliment. Black makes a bold, graphic statement in such a white gallery-looking design like this. Above you can see black cone pendants from our Generation Lighting line balancing with the black stainless hood and black painted island cabinetry.
The appliance package in this Quad Cities home is fit with models in a “Black Stainless Steel” finish. We can now order all categories of appliances in black stainless including microwave drawers and range hoods. The expert appliance team at Village can help you select an entire appliance suite in the same finish that is perfect for your needs and your budget. And black stainless is not limited to only our highest-end appliance lines.
Because of the continued interest in this kitchen appliance finish, Whirlpool has made it available within the main tiers of the product line. This kitchen has a fingerprint-resistant black stainless slide-in gas range that has 5.0 cu. ft. of capacity. This model includes the popular Frozen Bake option, a delay cook feature, and a built-in sensor that monitors oven temps and adjusts the elements to cook more evenly. Black stainless is also available on freestanding gas and electric ranges as well as built-in cooking models like wall ovens.
The dishwasher in this kitchen is “sophisticated. Not complicated” according to Whirlpool. In fact, it can even store/remember the last cycle you ran and quickly start it again with one button pushed. It has a 1 Hour Wash cycle and a Fan Dry option that gets you cabinet-dry dishes straight from the dishwasher. The fan pushes moist air out and pulls in fresh, dry air. You can shop this dishwasher online with us and even schedule our team to install it for you.
MSI Carrara Marmi quartz counters polish off the look perfectly. This is a soft white marble-look engineered countertop surface that has subtle grey veining patterns. Our MSI quartz surfaces are maintenance-free, durable, and easy to clean. We love the size of this kitchen island. Even with the sink included, there is so much surface room for a variety of needs. The refrigerator and walk-in pantry can be loaded and unloaded easily onto the island top and an overhang on the back of the island is perfect for stools.
The lighting in this great room is truly the jewelry of the space. Instead of using the same light in different sizes, our lighting team helped select a grouping of fixtures that all work together and look perfect for the space. That is how you get a designer look! The black and brass chandelier that hangs above the round dining table is a 12-light fixture named “Hope” from our Quorum line. If you like this light, stop in to see it on display in the Village Home Stores showroom.
The Midnight Black cone pendants are from our Generation Lighting line. We love how they also combine gold/brass finishes with matte black without sharing the same lines and shape as the dining light. Seeing everything all together it just sings beautifully. See more of this entire home and the lighting here in the full album posted to our Houzz profile.
More touches of gold can be found in the cabinet hardware in the kitchen. This is the “Satin Bronze” finish from our Jeffrey Alexander line. The series is named “Stanton” and handles can be ordered in a variety of sizes depending on the door or drawer you are installing them, too. We have used two sizes in this kitchen design. The main hardware is the size shown in the image above, for the larger drawer base cabinets we included a size up to better scale with the drawer fronts.
Village Home Stores also provided products for the bathrooms in this new construction home. The primary bathroom turned out warm and chic. Here we kept the same straight lines of the square crown molding and cleaned up the doors even more using the “Liberty” slab-style door from our Koch line. Slab-style doors look great in modern and contemporary spaces and can even vibe well with minimalist or Scandi-inspired looks too. This is a Birchwood cabinet with the “Briarwood” stain applied. The same Carrara Marmi quartz is installed here for the double bowl vanity top. Touches of gold appear again in the lighting of this bathroom.
Three-light vanity fixtures from our Savoy House line are used above each sink. This is the “Meridan” light in natural brass. Shop our wide selection of home lighting here online. You can sort by color, category, and style. If you need more bathroom design inspiration, be sure to follow this board on our Pinterest page. We love sharing projects and ideas on Pinterest and have a wide variety of boards organized to help get you inspired with our projects.
There are lights and fans from Village Home Stores around every corner of this home. We love the first impression this stairway light makes. Reflected in the entryway mirror, this is the “Collins” light in Aged Brass finish from our Quorum line. Don’t forget that our new construction customers are able to bundle their purchases from Village Home Stores and earn FREE lighting for their homes. When you purchase all your cabinetry, countertops, appliances, and lighting from us you can build up quite a discount taken off your final lighting invoice.
