Pretty great right? This feature is available in a handful of new Whirlpool ranges and two options from Maytag. We love that these models come WITH the air fry basket and don’t require any additional purchases. Once our team delivers and installs your new range, you are ready to rock. Imagine how much easier it will be to feed a crowd when you can fill this entire basket.
Cleanup is a breeze because this basket is dishwasher safe! This is a feature that we appreciate so much, and it is not offered by other manufacturers. If you are one of the tens of American households who doesn’t own an air fryer yet, there are so many recipes out there for you to explore with this new range. Air frying is also a “cleaner” way of eating for your household because you eliminate the need to use extra oils or sprays for that crispy result.
So How Does Air Fry Work in an Oven?
So, what is going on in there when you use this basket and press the button? If you haven’t yet, scroll back up and watch our cheesy little puppet show video. Fill the basket with your items and place it on the center rack. When you select the Air Fry option, The convection fan at the back of the oven helps to distribute hot air from the heating elements all around the basket. Not just direct heat from above or below, instead your wings or nuggets get their own private heated wind tunnel. The open basket design allows that heat to truly move throughout the oven and surround your items for crispy and cooked results.
Many Whirlpool models have just been launched with this feature and two Maytag ranges now include it too. The Village Home Stores showroom in downtown Geneseo already has the gas (shown above) and electric (below) 550 models on display. Aside from air fry, these models also boast one of our favorite features that allow you to skip the preheat: Frozen Bake!
