With the recent roll out of innovative low-profile microwaves, we didn’t expect to see another new microwave option so soon from our brands… but surprise! There is a major new launch happening right now within 3 of our appliance lines. We now have flush built-in design over-the-range microwave hoods from our Maytag, Whirlpool, and KitchenAid lines! These models are already on display at Village Home Stores and available to our customers. They offer a seamless look and feel that installs flush with the front and bottom of your surrounding cabinetry.

What do We Mean by “Flush” Design?
All over-the-range microwaves are designed to be installed beneath a wall cabinet and above a range or cooktop surface below. Standard cabinet depth (with the thickness of a cabinet door) is typically 12 ¾” deep. The bottom and front face of these new models are designed to install as flush as possible for a clean and custom look in your kitchen. Just as with “counter-depth” refrigeration models, there may be some variance in your own home. And yes! They are microwave hoods. These models can be vented out or installed to re-circulate. Check out the models with 300 CFMs on our website from Whirlpool, Maytag, and a KitchenAid unit with 400 CFMs.

Who You Callin’ Shallow?
This “flush” new style may be shallow by technical terms, but the interior is very large. Each model boasts a full 1.1 cu.ft. capacity. Because this is an entirely new microwave style, interior components are placed in innovative locations leaving you with more space. In fact, the entire interior is usable for microwave cooking.
Where’s The Turntable?

But wait, where’s the microwave turntable? It doesn’t need one! These microwaves use an Edge-to-Edge technology that lets you microwave items using the entire cavity. The magnetron has been moved to the bottom of the unit, and a hidden motor circulates heat around your items inside. Without a turntable. Yes, you read that right. Heat multiple items at once.
So, What Can Fit Inside?
This is a turntable-free design. So, if it fits on the interior floor of the microwave, then it cooks! That means you can load up items side by side. You can reheat both of your coffee mugs if they get cold in the morning. You can pop two bags of popcorn at once for movie night. These models also fit items that wouldn’t normally work on a turntable style. Instead of re-plate servings from your casserole dish, you can just fit the whole dish in at once to reheat. And speaking of dishes, a full 10” dinner plate fits in the microwave. We made a quick video to show you just a few examples of how this turntable-free design can make your life easier. Take a look:
What if My Cabinet Is 15” Deep?
But what if the cabinet above your microwave hood is 15” deep? A kitchen design often includes a cabinet that is deeper than the industry standard. This could be for added interest or a space allowance for crown molding extensions of surrounding shallower cabinets. If you are planning on installing one of these new units in a cabinet 15” deep, just connect with an expert from our sales team and we can be sure to order a bump out kit for you.
